RacingThePlanet is a unique series of ultramarathons set in the most stunning and culturally rich places in the world. The races consist of the 4 Deserts Ultramarathon Series including the Atacama Crossing (Chile), the Gobi March (Mongolia), the Namib Race (Namibia), The Last Desert (Antarctica), and the RacingThePlanet Ultramarathon which moves to a new location each year. Each race takes place over seven days and 250 kilometers / 155 miles. Competitors range in age from 18 to 80 and above. The cumulative finishing times range from roughly 24 hours to over 80 hours.
Competitors are supported by professional medical and operations teams. RacingThePlanet is international - each race typically includes competitors representing 40 countries who are able to mingle around the campfires and in their geographically mixed tents. The series has been twice named by TIME magazine as one of the world’s Top 10 endurance competitions.
