40tude curing colon cancer 2014 SUP Marathon

Participants during the 2013 40tude SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboard) Marathon

40tude curing colon cancer is inviting participants to join its 26-mile endurance SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboard) charity challenge in aid of colon cancer.

This unique challenge, starting at Shepperton and ending at Putney, is organised by 40tude, a rapidly expanding group of people who are taking action against the second biggest cancer killer in the Western world – colon cancer.

40tude is raising funds to support research currently underway at St Mark’s Hospital in Harrow.  Over £500,000 has been raised since 40tude was founded in September 2011.  The group has attracted the patronage of Radio 2 breakfast DJ, Chris Evans, whose own father died from the disease at the age of 47.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding is the world’s fastest growing watersport.  40tude is working with Active360 to deliver the SUP Marathon.  Active360 is an ASI (Academy of Surf Instructors) accredited SUP School that is dedicated to developing the sport of SUP, particularly in London.  Whether you’re completely new to the sport or an experienced paddler, the day is guaranteed to be a lot of fun – as can be seen by viewing the YouTube clip from their 2013 Challenge at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=IE1mOln72rU.

The course will combine tidal and non-tidal sections of the river – passing through three locks and under 14 bridges while taking in some of the River’s most picturesque sights – including Hampton Court, Syon House, Kew Gardens, Ham House and Richmond Hill.
