Coal Race

Bored with rolling cheese down hills in Cheddar?  Or Bog snorkelling in Wales? What about running 1km with a sack of coal on your back?  Every year more and more people sign up to run the Kelty Coal Race and so far every single competitor has completed it. Men carry 50kg and women 25kg, there is even a children’s race (10kg!). With roots in the mining heritage of Kelty where miners used to race each other home carrying ‘rakers’  or ‘clugs’ in their bags, this race is now home to the Scottish Coal Carrying Championships. Come along and take part, come as a team!  Entry is free.
