Photo-Competition.online is hosting the photography contest “Sunsets 2019”. This contest would include sunsets and sunrises. There will be 1 grant winner and 9 honorable mentions. This competition is open to all photographers worldwide.
Almost all sunsets/sunrises are bold, brilliant, and rich in color. Unless you want to focus more on other parts of the scenery, it usually won’t suffice to say something like “the sky was bright orange and red”. Figure out what’s unique about the sunset/sunrise in particular and tell the story seen in their mind’s eye.
Theme and Selection:
One of the most magical moments in a day is sunset or sunrise. Sunset is the time when the sun goes down in the horizon creating a beautiful view that the strongest words aren’t enough to describe its magic. Indeed, the phenomenon of the sun drowning in the endless sea makes a magnificent prospect with its colors going from red to orange then a mixture of warm, dreamy colors like purple and indigo. Moreover, at some special places, trees especially palms are added to this amazing painting of mother nature looking like guards protecting this piece of art. Sunset is true magic from its colors to its protective trees given to us by the heavens.
Don’t feel constrained by images – Whenever I’m describing an image and feel stuck, I search for one on google and try describing that. This is a good tool for getting started, but don’t feel like you have to describe the image exactly. In the last image, I might have added something about birds flying across the sky, just because that would look pretty.
Have the sunset foreshadow the mood of the scene – This isn’t always easy (I’m personally terrible at it), but when written correctly can be absolutely gorgeous. If you have two lovers watching the sunset together, highlight how beautiful it is. If your character is mourning the death of a loved one, highlight how the beauty of the sunset eventually is replaced by blackness (or something along those lines).
Entry Fee: $10 for up to three entries and $5 for each additional image.
(No limit on the number of additional entries submitted.)
