The 3 Dales Mountain Bike Challenge

This is a brand new sister event to the ever popular Sue Ryder Bronte Mountain Bike Challenge. Taking place at the start of the season and on a different type of topography, this event, sponsored by All Terrain Cycles will make for an exciting new challenge for all standards of mountain bike and cyclo-cross rider.

All entry fees go straight towards supporting Sue Ryder’s care at Manorlands Hospice and stretching right up into these three dales through our community nursing team.

While there is no obligation to raise additional funds through sponsorship, those who raise £50 or more will be entered into a prize draw to win a mystery bike related prize from our sponsors at All Terrain Cycles.

As with the 2016 Bronte Mountain Bike Challenge, there are individual and team entry options, and we will be publishing a team leaderboard after the event.

The Routes

This event has three routes, one for hardcore experienced riders, one for intermediates and one for relative beginners and families.

The Ribble: 38.9 miles
Approximaty 26 off road miles
This may well become known as the ter-Ribble as it is 38.9 miles long and climbs over 4,000 cumulative feet. The route heads east out of Threshfield, passing Malham Tarn before descending into Langcliffe and Settle. It then turns back up Stockdale lane, passes Malham Tarn in the other direction and then left along the path known as Hawkswick Clowder. On reaching Hawkswick there is then a road section to Conistone and then the final two hills before descending the Hebden Ghyll and back to the start point. For those not sure if they can do the whole 38.9 miles there is a bail out option at the 32.8 mile mark which is less than a mile from the finish. View the route

The Aire: 24.7 miles
Approximatly 15 off road miles
This is a testing intermediate route of almost 25 miles and 2390 cumulative ft of climbs. The route heads east out of Threshfield and almost reaches Malham Tarn before turning right along the path known as Hawkswick Clowder. On reaching Hawkswick there is then a road section to Conistone and then the final two hills before descending the Hebden Ghyll and back to the start point. For those not sure if they can do the whole 24.7 miles there is a bail out option at the 18.6 mile mark which is less than a mile from the finish. View the route
