We’ll bet a 125 pound mother of four from Nebraska has you beat. Molly Schuyler of Nebraska just completed the famous challenge at Sayler’s Old Country Kitchen in Portland, Oregon, where they’ve been serving up 72 oz steaks since 1948.
The 72oz. Steak Challenge requires you to eat a four and a half pound slab of beef, two celery sticks, 2 carrots, 2 olives, 2 dill pickles, 1 regular salad, 10 french fries or one baked potato and one slice of bread in an hour. Huh? Yep, but don’t worry, you can have the steak reheated if you like, but it counts on the clock. Anyone who puts this away, gets the entire meal for free.
Just over 600 men and less than a dozen women have completed the challenge. Molly’s time, two minutes and forty-four seconds – a new world record that would put a starved mountain lion to shame. Watch Molly devour this meal below. You won’t believe your eyes.
Editor’s Note: I witnessed Molly annihilate 9 pounds of Fried Mushrooms at the World Fried Mushroom Eating Championship in Kennett Square, PA last fall during the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival. If you want to see Molly in action, her next stop on her competitive eating circuit is the famous Wing Bowl this month in Philadelphia.
